Adult Taster Classes at Clapham Pottery

Clapham Pottery runs classes for those wanting an introduction to pottery techniques; either a complete beginners class to give an insight into working with clay or a dedicated throwing class to learn to throw or to improve your throwing skills.

All classes are taught by professional potters with an assistant tutor also on hand.

As a charity and community pottery, our policy is to reduce waste in our studio practice and also our taster classes. Clay can be recycled an infinite amount of times – until it is fired. We therefore encourage you to enjoy the process of learning to throw / hand build a pot and not necessarily the outcome of the pot. If you would like to keep any of your work, there is a £5 fee per pot up to a maximum of 2 pots (payable on the day). 

Hand Building & Throwing Beginner’s Sunday Taster:
Sundays, 1.00 pm – 4.00 pm
These single sessions are suitable for beginners and include an introduction to hand-building and throwing.
£83 per individual session.

Throwing Sunday Taster:
Sundays, 1.00 pm – 4.00 pm
These single sessions are suitable for beginners and those with some experience, throwing only.
£83 per session

Short Course 3 Sundays: Breakfast Set:                                                Over three consecutive Sundays you will create your own unique breakfast set, including a mug, a bowl and side plate. This course is great for both beginner and those looking to build on existing skills.               £175 for the course

Intensive Throwing Course (4 consecutive nights):
Monday – Thursday, 6.30 – 9.00 pm
These are held at the end of our 10-week terms and are suitable for all abilities.
£183 for the course.
