The co-ordinator and tutors at Clapham Pottery are mostly based at North Street Potters, a collective of professional potters set up in Clapham in 1978. Naine Woodrow, the co-ordinator was trained in Japan in the 1970’s by a renowned ‘Sensei’ in the traditional Japanese pottery method, and is the founder member of North Street Potters. Jo Whiteley, Katie Adams and Nic Payne run the adult classes and all have degrees in Ceramics from Bristol, Camberwell, Loughborough and Wolverhampton respectively. Sarah Williams and Magda Weldon run the classes and workshops for children and families. Sarah has been teaching children and leading pottery workshops in the community for many years. Magda studied Design at the Royal College of Art in the 1970’s and switched to ceramics in the late 1990’s. Alice Maplesden and Katy Harris are assistant tutors and both graduated in Contemporary Crafts from Falmouth College of Art. Amy Woodrow Arai and Amy Heard are also assistant tutors and trained at Clapham Pottery.
