Help us save our community pottery building

Thank-you, thank-you, thank-you

To everyone who has been involved in the fund-raising by organising events, giving money or making pledges that ensure the future of The Old Chapel as a community facility.

It is only 9 months since we began the campaign to raise enough money to buy the building at 4A Rectory Grove Clapham and we have reached the target thanks to the extraordinary fundraising efforts of students, friends and local supporters alongside funds from charitable donors and most significantly, as the result of an interest free loan from a local celebrity to match the shortfall.

This means we can enter into purchase negotiations with the owner, Lambeth Council and plan for the future on a secure footing.

So, as of March 2104, we have reached a significant milestone and can look to consolidating our efforts to ‘Keep Clay in Clapham’ which was the rallying cry the campaign.

We will continue to raise funds so we can pay back the loan as soon as possible and in doing so, be able to continue in our aim to offer pottery classes for all in our local community.

We still need your support for this. We still need to raise £100,000.  So please keep spreading the word.

Background

Clapham Pottery is a self-funding, not-for-profit community organisation, and has full charitable status. We provide classes for the whole community and often have over 200 students a week.

Those who can afford to pay do so, and for those who can’t – like the elderly, young carers, the homeless and children from low income backgrounds – we actively seek alternative funding.
